Course Description
Title: CPR+AED Instructors Training Course
Objectives: By the end of this classroom-based training course, Trainee-Instructors will be able to:
  1. Be a role model exemplary of an NRC-accredited instructor
  2. Conduct the CPR+AED Provider Course in accordance with NRC guidelines
  3. Ensure consistency with the practical performance and assessment in accordance with the standards laid down by the NRC
Outcomes: 1. Exhibit the characteristics required of a NRC-accreditated instructor
2. Be a role model in provision of the skill
3. Conduct courses in a manner that helps participants stay engaged in the learning process
4. Understand the needs to maintain a completed and accurate record and report
5. Plan, organize, and conduct the CPR + AED course in accordance to the NRC guidelines
6. Monitor participants' practice and provide corrective feedback and encouragement that is consistent with the standards of performance expected
7. Recognize that the theory and practical assessments are to test the provider's understanding of the key steps in the skill and ability to carry out the skills in accordance with the standards laid down by the NRC.

Requirements and Certification
Certification:
  • Certified as a CPR+AED Instructor
  • Assessment: Appointment as CPR+AED Instructor who meet the passing criteria within 12 months from course commencement which includes: ● Phase 1: CAI Course (8 hrs) ● Theory Assessment (20 MCQ, 80% to pass, 16/20) ● Phase 2: CPR+AED Provider Course Observation (Based on TC's policies) ● Phase 3A: CPR+AED Trainee-Instructor Assessment 1 (T1) ● Phase 3B: CPR+AED Trainee-Instructor Assessment 2 (T2) ● Phase 3C: CPR+AED Review of Performance by CAI Chief Instructor ● Phase 4: Collection of CPR+AED Instructor Certificate (Card) Upon completion of classroom training, participants are required to complete at least 1 attachment with Singapore Red Cross Academy and another attachment at any NRC Accredited CPR+AED Training Centre. Once the 2 attachments have been completed, a valid CPR+AED Instructor Certificate will be issued.
    Pre-requisites: Valid CPR+AED Provider Certification (NRC-accredited)
    • ESS Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 5 and above
    • Able to communicate effectively in English language for class facilitation purposes
    Language: English
    Medical fitness:
    • Does not have any history or underlying medical heart and lung conditions or any physical disabilities/problems such as knee, spinal or joints injury. Please consult your doctor to get the necessary clearance to undertake the CPR practice.
    • Pregnant ladies are discouraged from undertaking the CPR practice for safety reasons
