Course Description
Title: CPR + Automated External Defibrillation (CPR + AED)
Objectives:
  1. Concept of Chain of Survival 
  2. Vital functions of the heart
  3. Recognise causes, signs and symptoms of a heart attack
  4. Provide resuscitation (CPR) to an adult casulty.
  5. Perform the use of AED.  
Outcomes:
  1. Know the causes of a cardiac arrest and how to prevent it
  2. Learn to recognise the signs and symptoms of a cardiac arrest
  3. Perform effective CPR to adult casualties during an emergency
  4. Safe administration of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) machine
Modules:
  1. Cardiach Arrest and You 
  2. Familiarisation of the AED Kits
  3. Practical Session on Performing CPR with AED

Requirements and Certification
Certification:
  • CPR + AED (2 years validity)
  • Assessment: (i) Theory Assessment (Multiple Choice Questions - 80% to pass)
    (ii) Practical Assessment

    - Participants would need to fulfil 100% course attendance in order to be eligible for the assessments
    - Participants who fails the final attempt for any component will have to retake the entire course

    This course is accredited by the National Resuscitation Council. Each certificate is valid for two years.
    Pre-requisites: NIL
    Language: English
    Medical fitness:
    • No history of underlying medical heart and lung conditions
    • Must be physically fit with no pre-existing medical conditions such as knee, spinal or joints injury. Please consult your doctor before attending the course
    • Pregnang ladies are discouraged from undertaking the CPR practice due to safety reasons. In case of doubt, please consult your doctor
