Course Description
Title: Caregivers Basic First Aid for Elderly (CGFAE)
  1. Equip caregivers of the elderly with basic First Aid techniques for managing common elderly-related medical emergencies eg. falls, hearts attack, stroke, diabetes
  2. Rendering care to an elderly through knowing various dietary needs, health and fitness tips and fall prevention methods
  3. Safe and effective Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) methods for elderly casualties
  1. Recognise a medical emergency situation
  2. Activate appropriate emergency response system and follow the Emergency Action Principles
  3. Know how to manage the dietary needs of an elderly
  4. Undertaking simple and preventive measures in ensuring safety for an elderly
  5. Recognise signs and symptoms of a heart attack, illnesses and injuries
  6. Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for elderly casualties
  1. Guide to First Aid
  2. Heartsaver (Adult)
  3. Falls and Common Injuries
  4. Managing Common Chronic Illnesses (eg. Stroke, Diabetes, Dementia)

Remarks: Caregivers Training Grant by the Agency for Integrated Care available. Eligibility criteria applies.

- Care recipient must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Caregiver must be the person in charge of caring for the care recipient (this can include family members and foreign domestic workers).
- Care recipient must be aged 65 and older, OR have a disability as assessed by a doctor.
- Caregiver must complete the training course and receive a certificate of attendance if there is one.

Requirements and Certification
  • Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation upon completion of the course
  • Assessment: NIL
    Pre-requisites: NIL
    Language: English
    Medical fitness:
    • No history of underlying medical heart and lung conditions
    • Must be physically fit with no pre-existing medical conditions such as knee, spinal or joints injury. Please consult your doctor before attending the course
    • Pregnant ladies are discouraged from undertaking the CPR practice due to safety reasons. In case of doubt, please consult your doctor
